4x4 Show set to kick-off Fathers Day celebrations

Thousands of Dads across Melbourne are set for the ultimate Fathers Day weekend at the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, Fishing and Boating Expo which kicks-off at the Melbourne Showgrounds this Friday.

Showcasing 50,000sqm of the latest in 4x4, boating, fishing and camping, together with an array of special events, guest appearances and competitions, the show is bracing itself for an influx of guests.

With more than 35,000 people expected to attend the show over a three day period, show organisers have created additional car parking at Flemington Race Course with free shuttle buses running to the main entrance.

Promised to be the biggest and best show yet, the event will include two massive 4x4 and Outdoor Halls, a supersized fishing and boating hall and an outdoor camper trailer display.

A number of special guests will be in attendance, including Rally Champion Cody Crocker, former AFL star Peter Spida Everitt, IFISHs Paul Worsteling and Merv Hughes, who will be a special guest to the AFN angling workshop.

Mark Petersen from the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, Fishing and Boating said, "This years event is going to be an absolute ripper. Weve been down here for the past week and the showgrounds is bursting at the seams with everything for any adventurer."

"We are expecting a massive turn-out and, as such, have provided plenty of additional parking at the Flemington Race Course.

"I'm really looking forward to a great weekend and I know visitors are going to be extremely pleased with the set-up and entertainment program for the event. This is definitely the biggest and best its ever been," he added.

In what is set to be a show sensation, The Action Arena will feature 300 tonnes of dirt and 4x4 obstacles, including the hill climb and rock crossing, plus loads more.

The gala event will provide entertainment for the whole family with live shows including cooking, monster trucks, freestyle motocross, 4wdTV all Terrain Challenge, winch vehicles, rock crawlers and the Loveday 4x4 Extreme Show.

Huge fishing tackle sales are also set to please guests, including Tackle World's annual 50% off sale with the biggest brands including, Shimano, Penn, Daiaw, Abu, Rapala, Halko, Berkley, and Ugly Stik.

All visitors to the show will go in the draw to win a $12000 Anaconda adventurer package and thrill-seekers can try their luck in the Remote control Rock Crawling competition for a chance to gain additional prizes. There will also be a $9000 Tonga fishing trip for two and $1950 Tuna fishing Charter prize up for grabs.
