8 September 2010
The National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, Fishing and Boating Expo persevered through Melbourne’s cyclonic weather conditions on the weekend and eventuated to be a huge success, attracting the biggest crowds in five years.
According to a report done by the Exhibition and Trade Fairs, crowd numbers reached just over 34,300 throughout the shows three day period and many exhibitors experienced a significant increase in sales.
Although it was wet and windy all weekend, Mark Petersen from the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, Fishing and Boating Expo said the weather wasn’t enough to stop the show from being the biggest and best in years.
“Despite such bad weather conditions all weekend, the show just continued to shine. There were huge crowds, great displays and many new attractions, which verified the shows growth,” stated Petersen.
The Waeco Outback Stage featured excellent presentations all weekend including 4wd TV’s Simon Christie, Your 4x4’s Danny Cousins and AFL legend and Presenter of the Great Australian Doorstep Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt, who cooked up a storm.
The Fishing Stage proved to be a show sensation with angling fanatics, who gathered for their expert advice from hosts Paul Worstling (IFISH) and David Kramer (3AW). The AFN Angling Workshop was also a huge success, pulling visitors with its educational fishing classes.
Another highlight of the show was the Yamaha Supertank, the Australian Fishing Simulator Championships presented by Uglyfish Eyewear, the Fly Casting area staged by Yarra Valley Fly fishers, the ARB Show and Shine, and the RC Rock Crawling Challenge put on by RC Garage and 4wd TV.
In spite of the weather, there was no shortage of entertainment on the outdoor Action Arena, hosted by Mickey Thompson. Hundreds of people joined in for test drives around the 4x4 track and to watch the monster trucks and Loveday Extreme Show.
The Polaris hot laps with special guest and rally champion Cody Crocker proved to a fantastic new addition to the show, with guests swamping the stand for their chance to go for a once in a lifetime ride.
Petersen said “2011 is already in planning, with even more new attractions and many other features. We will continue to invest in this great event and work with great industries, which we also actively participate in ourselves. Rebooking is at its highest level ever due to existing exhibitors securing their current locations and new exhibitors coming on board to ensure they don’t miss out on this great industry event.”
“Melbourne was a great event and our attention now turns to Brisbane in April 2011, where we look forward to teaming up with the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show, where we are looking to top this year’s event with over 35,000 visitors.”
The National 4x4 & Outdoors Show will be held in conjunction with the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show, which will be held at the RNA showgrounds on April 8-10. For more information and updates on the show, be sure to visit www.4x4show.com.au
