Melbourne fishing identities confirmed for new look fishing show

As the National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo heads into a new era at the Melbourne Showgrounds, event organisers are promising even more for the fisherman with additional exhibition space and an enhanced educational program.

The ever popular Fishing Stage will be hosted by well-known Melbourne anglers, Paul Worsteling and Dave Kramer, the pair holding more than 50 years experience in the industry between then. The duo who regularly feature in popular fishing programs, iFish (Worsteling) and River to Reef (Kramer) will be available to share their knowledge with event goers.

Mark Petersen from the National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo said event organsiers have tried to cater for all aspects of fishing and the equipment needed to get you out on the water this summer.

“The great thing about this year’s show is that we haven’t tried to focus on just one type of fishing, we have attempted to put something in there for everybody no matter if you enjoy hitting Melbourne’s famous Port Phillip Bay for some Snapper or the Victorian high fields for trout,” Petersen said.

“With the new venue we will have more boating companies exhibiting at the show, so if you’re in the market for a new boat the show is going to be the place to go to pick up a new vessel and there will be some great boating accessories on the display at bargain prices.”

“Paul Worsteling and Dave Kramer are two of Melbourne’s most respected fishermen and it is great to have them both on board and sharing their knowledge on the Fishing Stage,” Petersen concluded.

Worsteling, who also owns Paul Worsteling’s Tackleworld Cranbourne said he was proud to be part of the show as both a presenter and also an exhibitor.

“I’m really looking forward to being part of the event as it relocates to a brand new home at the Melbourne Showgrounds,” Worsteling said.

“Last year I was involved with the Fishing Stage and this year we have got even more planned for this section of the show - with more educational demonstrations, giveaways and information to encourage people to become involved in fishing.

“On top of this for the first time ever, the 50 percent off in the tent sale will occur at the National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Here people will get the chance to pick up some quality rods, reels and lures from their favourite brands at a genuine 50 percent off.”

Kramer is also looking forward to being part of the show as it moves to Melbourne Showgrounds stating that anglers will have the chance to learn from some of the best in the business while also understanding what is being done for the underwater environment.

“We’ve got some of Victoria’s best anglers talking about the correct technique to catch snapper,” Kramer said, “Along with this we have introduced two new presentations which will focus on the best ways to catch gummy shark and different species of bream.”

“The event will also provide the public with the rare opportunity to view one of the artificial reef balls which will be placed into Port Phillip Bay to help rebuilt the area. We will also show footage from the area so individuals can see how these balls are helping not only fisherman but also the environment.”

The National 4x4, Off-Road, Fishing and Outdoors Expo will be held at the Melbourne Showgrounds on September 4 – 6, 2009.
